The 6th anniversary of the Cyber Unit was marked with "Big Jang" presiding over the event. He delivered a farewell as the first CCIB commander, the pioneer who laid the organization's foundation, emblem, and motto. He stressed that the mission to combat technology crimes is crucial due to its impact on the public. He also congratulated "Big Oh," Pol. Maj. Gen. Thinkorn Rangmat, who will take over as the next "Cyber Frog."
At 09:00 on 9 Sep 2026, Pol. Gen. Kornchai Klaiklueng, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, chaired the ceremony marking the 6th anniversary of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), also known as the "Cyber Police." Present were Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapol Prembutr, CCIB Commander; Pol. Maj. Gen. Kantapong Chairungreung, Deputy Commissioner performing duties at CCIB; Pol. Maj. Gen. Thinkorn Rangmat; Pol. Maj. Gen. Niwet Aparwasin; Pol. Maj. Gen. Arut Saengchan; Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatchapandakan Klaiklueng, Deputy CCIB Commander, who led personnel from the bureau in welcoming the guests.
The event was also attended by senior commanders such as Pol. Gen. Ampol Buabunporn, former Commander of Region 8 Police; Pol. Gen. Worawat Watnakhonbancha, former CCIB Commander; Pol. Lt. Gen. Panurat Lakhboon, former Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board; Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Police Inspector General; Pol. Lt. Gen. Pichet Jeeranantsin, Commander of the Immigration Bureau; Pol. Maj. Gen. Phairoj Sukruaythanachot, Deputy Commander of Region 1 Police; Pol. Maj. Gen. Natthakorn Prapayont, Deputy Commander of the Immigration Police; Pol. Maj. Gen. Phutthidet Boonkrapue, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Police Region; Pol. Maj. Gen. Ploen Klinpayom, Secretary of the Royal Thai Police; as well as representatives from various government and private agencies such as Nonthaburi Provincial Court, Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office, National Anti-Corruption Commission, Department of Special Investigation, National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, Personal Data Protection Committee, AIS, TRUE, FLASH Express, various banks, and international agencies including FBI, U.S. Secret Service, HSI, AFP, and UNODC.
In the morning, Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapol led personnel in paying respects to Phra Phairi Phinit at the shrine in front of the Phra Phairi Phinit Pavilion. Afterwards, Pol. Gen. Kornchai inspected the honor guard and participated in a Buddhist ceremony to bless the bureau and attendees.
Pol. Gen. Kornchai said he was very pleased to join the 6th anniversary ceremony of the CCIB. Since Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Royal Thai Police Commissioner, had an important engagement, he was assigned to chair the event. He took the opportunity to bid farewell as the bureau's first commander and founder who established the emblem and motto. He emphasized that preventing and combating cybercrime is a vital mission prioritized by the government and the Royal Thai Police because such crimes severely affect the public, society, and the nation.
The Cyber Police bear heavy responsibility and high public expectations. Having an organizational structure aligned with its mission, staying ahead of criminals, and continuously enhancing the knowledge of its officers to keep up with evolving cybercrime methods are key priorities set by the Royal Thai Police over the past six years.
The Deputy Commissioner added that on this anniversary, he commended commanders and thanked all police officers for their cooperation in supporting the Royal Thai Police's important missions since the bureau's establishment. During his two-year tenure as the first commander, he set policies for strict and serious investigation and suppression, with continuous crackdowns and various development projects, resulting in outstanding performance and awards. He congratulated Pol. Maj. Gen. Thinkorn Rangmat, Deputy CCIB Commander, on his appointment as the next commander, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Cyber Police against criminals. He urged all cyber officers to work with honesty, integrity, transparency, and full dedication for the peace and security of the public and nation.
Additionally, awards were presented to police officers with outstanding achievements. This year, 16 officers at the non-commissioned and commissioned levels received recognition in seven categories, along with nine outstanding teams.
