The traffic volunteer at Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station apologized to the woman involved and clarified the situation, insisting he did not hit and run but smiled before leaving. He explained he was rushing to direct traffic at another location and intends to continue his duties until physically unable. Regarding the case, the investigation is pending with the police to proceed based on the evidence.
At 3:00 p.m. on 9 Sep 2026, an incident occurred where a traffic volunteer riding a government motorcycle suddenly changed lanes, causing a minor collision with a private car near Gate 4 exit of Future Park Rangsit, heading toward Nakhon Nayok Province, Prachathipat Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province, as previously reported.
Later, Ms. Nira Krasuaythong, 29, owner of a black Mazda CX3 car with license plate 6กช 2240 Bangkok, came to Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station to file a report and negotiate with Mr. Samrit Yoddamnoen, 68, traffic volunteer and the other party. Inspection showed scratch marks on the car's left front bumper. Police compared the motorcycle, a maroon Honda CBR with shield emblem and plate 31787, finding scratches on its exhaust pipe as well.
Ms. Nira said that at about 8:18 p.m. on the incident day, while driving home and approaching Gate 4 exit of Future Park Rangsit, the traffic volunteer came from her left, out of sight. He suddenly changed lanes without signaling, causing her to brake too late. The volunteer stopped and looked back while laughing. She rolled down her window and shouted that he had scratched her car but was unsure if he heard. She couldn’t follow due to traffic congestion. Her car’s front bumper was scratched. She said whoever is at fault should stop and talk. The volunteer must have known he changed lanes abruptly and felt the impact near the exhaust. She just wants fairness and accountability.
Police Chief Pol.Col. Adirek Pothipan explained that the volunteer was officially appointed since 2025 and his term ends in 2027. He has consistently helped with traffic duties. On the incident day, he was summoned and admitted the collision but believed his vehicle was not badly damaged.
Video footage shows the volunteer looking once at the victim but what he said is unknown. The volunteer thought he was rear-ended, but CCTV shows he did suddenly change lanes. The police motorcycle had only minor scratches on the exhaust pipe and no major damage. The chief learned of the case this morning and promptly contacted the victim to file a report.
Regarding damages, the investigating officer will decide based on evidence. If the volunteer is found at fault, he must compensate the victim’s car insurance company.
Mr. Samrit, the volunteer involved, said he was managing traffic in front of Major Cineplex and was urgently called to bring traffic cones from Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station to assist with a broken-down vehicle near the railway bridge. In his haste, he drove a bit fast. When the collision occurred, he felt like he was rear-ended but saw no serious damage, so he continued his duty without intent to flee.
He admitted not signaling because of heavy traffic and following closely. He denied laughing or hearing the victim’s calls. He said if the collision had been strong, he would have fallen off his motorcycle.
After discussions, both parties reached an understanding. Mr. Samrit apologized and affirmed he will continue his volunteer traffic duties until physically unable.
The report noted that at times Mr. Samrit insisted he did not intend to flee, saying, “Why would I run away? I even turned around and said, ‘How did you hit my rear?’” He denied smiling or laughing and added, “I have worked here a long time and always help others.”
