A 77-year-old woman drove a Mercedes against traffic on Vibhavadi Road, pleaded guilty, and was granted bail. The court scheduled the verdict for 9 October.
On 9 September 2026, reporters reported that a 77-year-old woman drove a Mercedes nearly 1 kilometer against traffic on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road near a well-known mall heading toward Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, causing oncoming vehicles to swerve to avoid collisions.
Subsequently, the prosecutor from the Special Prosecutor's Office, District 1, filed charges against the 77-year-old woman at Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court for reckless driving endangering the life and body of others. They requested punishment under the Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979), Sections 43 (8), 158/1, and 162, as well as revocation or suspension of her driver's license and confiscation of the vehicle.
Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court accepted the case under file number Or.5048/2569. At this stage, the defendant pleaded guilty. The court ordered probation officers to investigate and assess the defendant, reporting back within 15 days, and set the verdict hearing for 9 October 2026 at 09:00.
The court granted the defendant bail on condition she pledges to appear at all scheduled hearings.
