Cyber police raided and arrested a temple youth in a well-known area of Nonthaburi who forged a TikTok profile to deceive a 7-year-old girl into lewd acts. In-depth checks revealed that over the past two years, he committed similar offenses against girls under 10 years old more than 50 times, using the tactic of promising coins to buy in-game items.
At 10:00 a.m. on 10 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapol Prembutr, Commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Division, along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Naradet Thiprak, Commissioner attached to the Royal Thai Police Office, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thinkorn Rangmat, Deputy Commissioner of Cyber Crime Investigation Division, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepho, Commander of Cyber Crime Division 1, Pol. Col. Runglert Kanthan, Superintendent of Division 1, and other officers from Cyber Crime Division 1, together with staff from the Hug Project of the Family Relations Foundation, to raid a famous old temple’s monk residence in Bang Khun Kong Subdistrict, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, with Nonthaburi Provincial Court Search Warrant No. 999/2669.
They arrested Sarawut Ongyim, 25, a Bangkok resident, and seized two mobile phones. He was wanted under Criminal Court warrant No. 5326/2569 dated 8 Sep 2026 for sexual harassment or repeated offenses causing the victim to be unable to live normally, committed in public places, in front of witnesses, or through computer systems accessible to the public, or offenses involving children under 15 years old, regardless of the child's consent.
This arrest followed an investigation triggered in late August when Pol. Col. Runglert Kanthan, Superintendent of Division 1, saw a Facebook post warning parents. The post cautioned, “Parents whose children play Roblox should beware of someone impersonating girls’ profile pictures to lure daughters into bathrooms for inappropriate sexual acts via video call.”
Further investigation revealed the victim was a 7-year-old girl. The perpetrator used a TikTok account named “Fah” to message the girl, inviting her to a bathroom to perform a video call involving lewd acts. He used Robux, the Roblox game currency to buy in-game items, as bait to persuade the victim to comply in exchange for coins worth 2,000 baht.
The perpetrator then threatened the victim to send lewd photos, warning that if she refused, he would distribute images on social media. The victim’s guardian learned of this and posted about the suspect’s behavior to warn the public.
Investigators identified the suspect as Sarawut Ongyim, residing at a well-known old temple in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi. They gathered evidence and secured a court warrant before arresting him. Initially, he confessed to the charges.
In-depth investigation showed that over the past two years, Sarawut committed similar offenses against girls under 10 more than 50 times, using girls’ profile pictures to conceal his identity and luring victims with promises of game coins to purchase in-game items in every case.
Sarawut Ongyim had previously been arrested by cyber police while ordained as a monk at the same temple for similar offenses in April but reoffended. He was taken into custody and handed over to investigators of Division 1, Cyber Crime Investigation Division 1, for prosecution.
