Pathum Thani — A lone robber stormed into the Thanachart Bank branch at Talad Thai Market, conducting the heist within five minutes before closing time and escaping with 1.5 million baht in cash. Police found clues that the suspect set fire to the getaway car used in the escape, abandoned on the inbound side of Phahonyothin Road opposite Khlong Luang Post Office.
At 16:00 on 10 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sirot Naebnian, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Khlong Luang Police Station, received a report of an armed robbery at the Thanachart Bank (ttb) branch at Talad Thai Market, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. The suspect stole 1.5 million baht in cash. He reported the incident to his superiors and proceeded to the scene with Police Major General Peeraphon Chotikasetthien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police; Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalad Homngoen, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Khlong Luang Police; Police Lieutenant Colonel Kawinwet Wiriyasiriphakdee, Deputy Superintendent of Patrol; Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchai Saengsong, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Khlong Luang Police; along with patrol officers, investigation team members, and forensic police from Forensic Center 1.
Upon arrival, bank employees were still visibly shaken by the incident. Police Major General Peeraphon Chotikasetthien described the suspect as a man approximately 170 centimeters tall, wearing a knit hat covering his face (balaclava), a red shirt, and gloves. He entered the bank alone around five minutes before closing. Inside, the suspect wedged a metal bar to prevent others from entering, then brandished a semi-automatic pistol to threaten staff. At that time, five bank employees and one auditor were present.
The suspect forced the staff to hand over about 500,000 baht from the counter, then compelled them to open the safe and took another 1 million baht in cash, totaling 1.5 million baht. After the robbery, he fled in a gray Toyota sedan bearing the license plate KHM 8353 Songkhla.
Later, police received reports that the suspect had set fire to that same car on a dirt lot beside the inbound side of Phahonyothin Road, opposite Khlong Luang Post Office. The vehicle was completely burned. Investigation of the license plate revealed it was fake.
Authorities have coordinated with police in neighboring areas to help intercept the suspect. Investigators have also been ordered to urgently review CCTV footage along the escape route to determine the path taken and whether accomplices were involved in the getaway.
