Former Abbot Thid Choti and Laywoman Sika Ae Deny Embezzling Temple Funds, Admit to Adultery Police Seize Assets Worth Over 143 Million Baht

The Crime Suppression Division revealed that former abbot Thid Choti and laywoman 'Sika Ae' denied embezzling temple funds but admitted to adultery as shown in video evidence. Police searched Thid Choti's residence and seized cash and other valuables worth more than 143 million baht.

On 11 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reports stated that during questioning, Mr. Atichoti Thanprasert, former abbot Atichoti Thammavaro or Thid Choti, former abbot of Phutthaisawan Temple in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, and Ms. Punyavee, known as 'Sika Ae,' last night both denied charges of embezzling temple funds and money laundering but admitted only to the incident shown in the video.

Further reports stated that the evidence seized by police in this case exceeds 2,000 items, comprising about 60 million baht in cash and valuables such as gold, necklaces, diamond jewelry, and land deeds worth approximately 80 million baht, totaling over 140 million baht in seized assets.

This afternoon (11 Sep 2026 GMT+7), investigators from Division 1 of the Crime Suppression Division will present both suspects for detention at the Central Region Anti-Corruption Criminal Court in Saraburi Province according to legal procedures, opposing bail due to concerns the suspects might tamper with evidence.
