The Crime Suppression Division arrested “Chao Khun Atichoti,” the abbot of Wat Phutthaisawan Royal Monastery, a famous temple in Ayutthaya, known as the originator of the revered Jatukam coin, "Nuea Duang" edition. He is accused of embezzling over 100 million baht of temple donations, transferring funds to the account of a close female assistant, then converting the money into gold and land holdings.

Authorities have since detained the assistant for defrocking and questioned both individuals. Mr. Atichoti Thanprasert, the former abbot, and Ms. Punyavee, known as Si Ka Ae, deny the embezzlement and money laundering charges but acknowledge the events depicted in the video. This afternoon, investigators from Division 1 of the Crime Suppression Division will bring both suspects for remand at the Central Region Anti-Corruption Court in Saraburi Province, filing motions opposing bail due to concerns they might tamper with evidence.
