Following media reports on the investigation into perpetrators and those connected to local exam corruption, evidence under review indicates that two Department of Special Investigation officers, holding special and expert investigator positions, were involved as intermediaries receiving money from local broker networks to pass on to individuals related in Bangkok. The Ministry of Justice has acknowledged this information and behavior, treating the matter with utmost importance.
On 11 Sep, the Ministry of Justice instructed the Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation to immediately act under civil service regulations regarding the two DSI officials, holding special and expert investigator ranks. They were ordered to be suspended pending investigation under the Civil Service Act B.E. 2561, the Civil Service Commission disciplinary rules B.E. 2556, and the DSI investigators' code of ethics to ensure transparency and avoid any allegations during fact-finding.
The Ministry of Justice affirms that it has no policy to protect or assist accused wrongdoers, regardless of their agency within the Ministry. Should investigations confirm wrongdoing, strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken based on facts and evidence.
