Police raided a resort in the Ram Inthra area and arrested a suspect who stole more than 1.1 million baht from the Talad Thai bank branch. The suspect is under investigation and was found to have previously committed a cash truck robbery involving 16 million baht, having been released from prison in 2022.
In the case where the suspect used a firearm to rob the TMBThanachart Bank branch at Talad Thai, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, the bank confirmed the stolen amount totaled 1,176,239.08 baht before the suspect burned the vehicle used in the crime to destroy evidence, as previously reported.
Latest update: At 15:30 on 11 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant General Watthana Yi-Chin, Commander of Region 1 Police, along with Police Major General Worachat Saenkham, Chief of Investigation Region 1, Police Colonel Prathan Nantakobkul, Deputy Chief of Investigation Region 1, and other senior officers, together with Region 1 investigators, arrested Mr. Saifa Thanatechwarakul, 54, from Uthai Thani Province, seizing about 3,000 baht in cash and a white Toyota sedan registered in Bangkok. The arrest took place at a resort on Ratchada-Ram Inthra Road, Khan Na Yao Subdistrict, Khan Na Yao District, Bangkok.
This follows the incident on 10 Sep 2026, when a lone suspect robbed the TMBThanachart Bank branch at Talad Thai, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, stealing over one million baht. Following the incident, Region 1 investigators identified the suspect as Mr. Saifa Thanatechwarakul, also known as Saifa Kasemuti, 54, and conducted the arrest operation.
During initial questioning, Mr. Saifa confessed to robbing the Talad Thai bank branch and obtaining over one million baht. After the robbery, he burned the car used, which caused burns to his left arm. He claimed he had used the stolen money to pay gambling debts, leaving only a small amount saved, until police apprehended him.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Saifa, together with Mr. Weerachat Charoenchaivat, committed a cash truck robbery of Bangkok Survey Company at the parking lot of Lotus Bang Pa-In branch, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, on 17 Sep 2012, stealing nearly 16 million baht. He was previously arrested by the same Region 1 investigation team that made today's arrest, sentenced to 10 years in prison, and released in 2022 before committing this recent offense.
After the arrest, the suspect was detained and transferred to Khlong Luang Police Station in Pathum Thani Province for legal proceedings.
