On 12 Sep 2026, regarding 'Sami Choti' or 'Thid Choti,' formerly Phra Athisothi, abbot of Wat Phutthaisawan, a royal monastery and famed temple in Ayutthaya, originator of the 'Nuea Duang' Jatukam amulet, he was arrested under a warrant issued by the Central Investigation Court for Anti-Corruption and Misconduct, No. 29/2569 dated 8 Sep 2026. Charges include embezzlement of temple donation funds exceeding 100 million baht, misconduct in office, dereliction of duty, and conspiracy in money laundering.
Ms. Punyavee, known as Si Ka Ae, was also arrested under warrant No. 30/2569 dated 8 Sep 2026 by the same court, charged with supporting an official in embezzlement, misconduct in office, dereliction of duty, and conspiracy in money laundering.
Looking back at Sami Choti's life, according to Pol. Lt. Col. Krisada Playaharan, deputy inspector at Division 1, Department of Special Investigation, and a former disciple, Mr. Athisothi was once a medium. He ran a fortune-telling office in a condo on Ladprao Road when he was about 35–36 years old. He had a wife for about two years but, being devoted to Dharma, asked her permission to ordain. He then donned white robes at Wat Phutthaisawan, where the then-abbot Luang Pu Whon ordained him, and he became a monk at Wat Phutthaisawan.
Additionally, villagers provided information that Sami Choti had close female devotees, approximately three. The first, Si Ka K., in her 40s, a cream business owner and believed to be his former wife, regularly attended temple merit-making events. The second, Si Ka P., about 50, originally from Buriram, was attractive, well-dressed, and had easy access to the monk's quarters. The last was Si Ka Ae, a former cheerleader and community radio DJ. After Si Ka Ae's arrival, Si Ka K. and Si Ka P. rarely came to the temple.
Meanwhile, on social media, a clip is circulating of a curse against fake 'Jatukam Ramthep' amulets by Police Lieutenant General Sanphet Thammathikul, a Jatukam guru and legendary creator of the first generation Jatukam in Nakhon Si Thammarat, who criticized this issue over a decade ago. The clip mentions 'Sami Choti' by name, stating that any Jatukam Ramthep amulet made or consecrated anywhere after 2001 is fake, especially those linked to Ko Phong, who sold amulets until being expelled, claiming to be a medium and recruiting others to make Jatukam amulets, including former Phra Choti. Anyone holding such an amulet is advised to discard it or face a curse.
