Udonthani City Police are pursuing a man who deliberately collided with a hotel housekeeper's motorcycle, causing her to fall, then dragged her into the woods and tied her up intending to rape her. Fortunately, she narrowly escaped.
At 06:30 on 13 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Thirayotin Supsin, Deputy Inspector of Udonthani City Police Station, received a report of attempted robbery and rape on Udonthani-Ban Tad road near the Nong Tha traffic light intersection, Ban Kamkling, Ban Chan Subdistrict, Mueang Udonthani District. He, along with Police Lieutenant Chakrapong Tongtaem, the investigation officer, detectives, and patrol officers, promptly went to investigate.
At the scene, Mrs. Ning (alias), 41, a resident of Ban Tad Subdistrict, Mueang Udonthani, was waiting for police looking shocked, with scrapes on her arms and legs from the fall. She said she works as a hotel housekeeper in Udonthani city. Around 5 a.m., while riding her motorcycle from home to work, near the incident location at about 05:30, a male suspect aged about 20-25, wearing a black hooded shirt, black pants, and a black hood covering his head, on a dark gray Honda Wave motorcycle, followed her and suddenly collided with her motorcycle, causing her to fall in the middle of the road.
Mrs. Ning continued that after she fell and was injured, the suspect pretended to help but instead dragged her about 20 meters into the roadside bushes. He threatened her not to scream or he would kill her, then used a belt to tie her hands behind her back and secured them to a tree, also tying her legs together with a rope. He removed her black pants and underwear. Luckily, some villagers drove past, so the suspect ran out, took her fallen motorcycle from the road into the bushes, fearing the villagers would see and come to help.
Mrs. Ning went on to say that she managed to undo the loosely tied belt on her hands and the rope on her feet, then quietly called her husband for help, whispering that she was being robbed, fearing the suspect would overhear. She then ran naked from the woods onto the road seeking help from passing villagers. Seeing her flee, the suspect escaped on her motorcycle, taking her pants and underwear. Villagers covered her and took her to the hotel where she worked, then called the police and accompanied her to point out the crime scene.
Mr. Kas (alias), 45, Mrs. Ning's husband, said his wife left early to work on her motorcycle. Shortly after, she called in a low voice saying, “Robbed, robbed, in the sugarcane field.” He tried to find out where, thinking it was near home, but she said it was opposite a coconut shop near the Nong Tha intersection. He rode his motorcycle searching but could not find her or reach her by phone. He then entered a lane beside a sugarcane field about 200 meters in but found nothing. Asking locals yielded no sightings. Returning to the main road, he found his wife's shoe on the roadside, then got another call confirming villagers had helped her to the hotel, so he waited at the scene.
“The incident site is about 7 km from home. I think the suspect didn’t follow her from home but likely lay in wait along the road. I've heard this route is known for regular robberies each year. I warned my wife to be cautious, especially at night when youths gather here. I even gave her a sharp knife to carry for protection,” he said.
Police believe the suspect is a local drug-using youth who did not follow Mrs. Ning from home but spotted her riding by and followed her. At a secluded spot near bushes far from houses, he deliberately collided to knock her down, dragged her into the woods intending to rape and rob her. Fortunately, Mrs. Ning escaped and sought help. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to find leads to apprehend the suspect and prosecute him according to the law.
