On 13 Sep 2026, a reporter received a complaint from Mr. Thanakorn Malangphueng, 43, a resident of Village 5, Nong Sakae Village, Charoensuk Subdistrict, Chalerm Phra Kiat District, Buriram Province. He said he felt he had not received justice from the Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station, forcing him to drive from Bangkok to follow up on his 16-year-old son's case for over eight months.
Mr. Thanakorn recounted that on 29 Jan 2026, his 16-year-old son was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a tractor owned by a former police oversight committee member of the Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station in Chalerm Phra Kiat District, Buriram Province.
At the scene was Mr. Manoo Malangphueng, 45, the boy's uncle. The son was seriously injured, and the motorcycle was completely damaged after hitting the front blade of the tractor. Mr. Thanakorn, who works in Bangkok, had to drive back to take care of his son.
According to the son and his uncle, the tractor was parked by the roadside and started moving to turn into a nearby gate. It appeared to swing its front end out before turning left, at which moment the son was riding straight behind and crashed forcefully into the tractor's protruding front blade.
Later, it was learned that the tractor owner was a well-known tire shop owner in Chalerm Phra Kiat District and had served on the police oversight committee of the Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station. After the accident, relatives of the tire shop owner brought 1,000 baht to the hospital and later gave an additional 10,000 baht, totaling 11,000 baht.
However, the father was confused about the case because initially, the police claimed it was mutual negligence but later charged his son alone with negligence causing damage to another's property. The tractor's front blade, made of thick metal, had only minor scratches, yet the police quickly filed charges.
Subsequently, professional experts summoned the son for questioning and concluded the tractor was at fault. They advised the father and son to file a complaint against the tractor, but the police refused to accept it, stating the case file had already been sent to the prosecutor.
Now, over eight months have passed with no progress in the case or regarding the compensation for damages. The son remains injured and his motorcycle completely damaged. The family's objective is to have the tractor owner take responsibility for the motorcycle damages, but there has been no response.
Mr. A (alias), 16, the motorcycle rider, said he was traveling at about 70 km/h. At first, he saw the tractor parked by the roadside, but suddenly it moved onto the road. He could not avoid it and crashed into the tractor's front blade, losing consciousness. He was hospitalized for 16 days and has been recovering at home for over a month but still cannot lift heavy objects.
The reporter contacted the tractor owner, who declined to give an interview but said initially he intended to compensate for the motorcycle damage. However, negotiations failed, so he decided to let the legal process proceed. The reporter is also trying to get updates from the relevant police officers at the Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station and will report further developments.
