Pathum Thani police have launched a manhunt for a black-hooded gunman who robbed 52 baht of gold. Reviewing CCTV footage, they found he hired a motorcycle taxi before switching to a taxi to escape. Authorities urge the public to report any leads if they spot the suspect or gold jewelry with markings matching the stolen items in the case.
The incident involved a male suspect who, armed with a pistol, entered Bangkok Gold, Yaowarat Gold branch, Sam Khok, and stole gold jewelry totaling 52 baht, worth over 3.5 million baht. The robbery took just 2 minutes before he fled on foot, then used a motorcycle taxi followed by a taxi. Police are reviewing CCTV footage along the escape route and ask the public to help by reporting any suspicious individuals or gold jewelry matching the stolen items.
At 10:00 a.m. on 14 September 2026, at the Sam Khok Police Station command center in Pathum Thani, Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwutikul, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Police Region 1, together with Pol. Maj. Gen. Peeraphon Chotikaseethern, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, Pol. Col. Theparit Chawanawi, Superintendent of Sam Khok Police Station, Pol. Col. Harit Kamchumphon, Chief of Investigation Division of Pathum Thani Police, and investigative officers from Region 1, Pathum Thani Provincial Police, and Sam Khok Police Station held a meeting to follow up and accelerate the investigation of the robbery at Bangkok Gold, Sam Khok branch, which occurred on the evening of 13 September. The meeting lasted about two hours.
The incident occurred at 5:56 p.m. The suspect, a male wearing a hooded jacket, long pants, and carrying a shoulder bag, entered the store and threatened four employees with a firearm, forcing them to hand over approximately 52 baht of gold jewelry, consisting of two 10-baht chains, four 5-baht chains, and three 4-baht chains, valued at over 3.5 million baht. He exited the store at 5:58 p.m., committing the crime in just about two minutes.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwutikul, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 1, revealed that CCTV footage shows the suspect loitering near the store before the robbery. After the crime, he left on foot along the roadside, then hired a motorcycle taxi to take him near the Lotus shopping mall, Pathum Thani branch, before switching to a taxi heading toward the Thammasat University area in Khlong Luang.
Currently, the investigation team is reviewing CCTV footage along the suspect’s escape route and gathering witness statements and information about the suspect’s appearance. Initial findings note distinctive patches resembling vitiligo on both sides of the suspect’s face, which authorities will use to aid in tracking him down.
Police also request public cooperation: if anyone sees a person matching the suspect’s description or notices gold chains with markings identical to those stolen being sold or pawned, they should immediately inform the police to help track and apprehend the suspect quickly and bring him to justice.
