Nonthaburi—Police from Region 1’s investigation division arrested a former online gambling site admin from Poipet at a rental room. He confessed to being unemployed and hired to guard sim box devices used by a scammer gang to defraud the public. Ayara1 revealed that since 2025-2026, police from Region 1’s investigation division have conducted a crackdown on call center gangs, searching 17 locations nationwide and seizing 62 sim box devices.
At 14:30 on 14 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Police Major General Worachart Saenkham, Chief of Investigation Division Region 1, along with Police Colonel Prathan Nantakobkul and Police Colonel Witit Chan-eam, Deputy Chiefs of the same division, Police Colonel Poonsuk Techaprasertporn, Head of Division 1, and officers from Region 1 and Wihan Daeng Police Station, Saraburi Province, raided a rental room in Wihan Daeng Subdistrict, Wihan Daeng District, Saraburi, after learning it was a site installing sim box devices used by scammers to deceive the public.
At the single-story rental site, officers found 22-year-old Mr. Anuphat Chandaphon from Nong Muang Subdistrict, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, and his 20-year-old girlfriend, Ms. Napatsawan Kaewchanla.
Inside the room, police found two sim box devices—one capable of holding 32 SIM cards—a CCTV camera, one internet signal transmitter, and one backup power supply unit.
Mr. Anuphat confessed that about 2-3 years ago, he worked as an admin at a gambling den in Poipet, Cambodia, where he met a 20-year-old Thai man named Mr. Kae. Due to conflict, fearing for his safety, he returned to Thailand but was unemployed. Later, Mr. Kae contacted him, offering a job guarding sim box devices. He rented the room, after which Mr. Kae sent someone to install the sim box devices and told him to guard them. He had been working about one week, earning 1,000-2,000 baht per week, while paying 2,500 baht monthly rent. Before receiving any wages, police arrested him.
Police Major General Worachart Saenkham said that Region 1’s investigation division received information from the Center for Suppression of Crime, Region 5, that a phone number was used to scam victims, causing damages totaling 34,080 baht. The signal was traced to Wihan Daeng Subdistrict, Saraburi. Police then raided the site and arrested the suspect with evidence.
Further investigation found the same phone number was used to scam victims in Ban Du Police Station area, Chiang Rai, with damages of 34,080 baht; Mae Fah Luang Police Station, Chiang Rai, 335,000 baht; Bang Kruai Police Station, Nonthaburi, 22,000 baht; and Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, Pathum Thani, 348,500 baht.
Major General Worachart added that between 2025-2026, Region 1’s investigation division has conducted crackdowns on call center gangs, searching 17 locations nationwide and confiscating 62 sim box devices.
After the arrest, Mr. Anuphat and the seized evidence were handed over to the investigators at Wihan Daeng Police Station, Saraburi Province, to face charges of jointly possessing, using, importing, exporting, or trading radio communication devices without authorization, and jointly operating radio communication stations without permission from the licensing authority.
Ms. Napatsawan, 20, the suspect’s girlfriend, was found not involved by police. She was questioned as a witness and then released.
