In Pathum Thani, police have arrested a black-hooded gunman who robbed gold in the Sam Khok area, stealing 52 baht worth. The police traced the suspect via CCTV footage. All the seized items remain intact and further interrogations are ongoing.
On 13 Sep 2026 at 18:00, Sam Khok Police Station received a report of a lone gunman robbing a gold shop, grabbing 52 baht of gold valued over 3.5 million baht. The incident lasted two minutes inside Bangkok Golds Thong Yaowarat shop on Pathum Thani-Sam Khok Road, Moo 3, Sam Khok Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani. Investigators found the suspect was a man wearing a black hooded jacket, long pants, and carrying a shoulder bag. He threatened four employees with a gun, forcing them to hand over approximately 52 baht of gold chains: two chains of 10 baht, four of 5 baht, and three of 4 baht, totaling over 3.5 million baht. He then left the shop and fled. CCTV captured the suspect loitering outside the store before entering at 17:56 and leaving at 17:58, taking just two minutes. He then calmly walked along the roadside, as previously reported.
Most recently, on the evening of 15 Sep 2026, Police Major General Peeraphon Chotiksethien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, along with Police Colonel Thongrop Jaengjit, Deputy Commander, Police Colonel Harit Khamchumphon, Chief of Investigation Unit, and investigative teams from Pathum Thani and Region 1 police, arrested Mr. Banlue Phanchan, 56, from Bang Phun Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani. The arrest was made near Prem Prachakon Temple under a Pathum Thani Provincial Court warrant No. 297/2569. His home was searched, where all the stolen gold totaling 52 baht, the clothes worn during the crime, a replica gun, and the motorcycle used to leave the house were found. The suspect had abandoned the motorcycle along Prem Prachakon Canal Road and then took a hired car to commit the robbery. The evidence and suspect were taken for immediate questioning at Sam Khok Police Station.
Police Major General Peeraphon Chotiksethien stated that CCTV footage showed the suspect wandering around in front of the shop before deciding to commit the robbery at 17:56. He exited the shop at 17:58, spending about two minutes inside. Afterwards, he walked calmly along the roadside before fleeing the area.
Subsequently, investigative teams from Pathum Thani Provincial Police, Sam Khok Police Station, and Region 1 police divided into groups to quickly examine CCTV footage along the escape route. They also interviewed shop employees and witnesses to gather information to track the suspect. This enabled them to identify the suspect's appearance and escape path, collect evidence, issue an arrest warrant, and ultimately apprehend the suspect.
Authorities have been actively pursuing the case, using CCTV evidence and eyewitness accounts from the scene, which led to the successful arrest of the suspect.
Further interrogations will be conducted to gather additional evidence, verify the seized gold ornaments and escape route, before proceeding with legal actions against the suspect.
