A reckless young man sped in a van to evade police, crashing into a corner house fence at an intersection. Authorities discovered 464 kilograms of ice valued at 464 million baht. He confessed to being paid 500,000 baht to transport the drugs, money he planned to use for his wedding.
On 16 Sep 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that at 17:30 on 15 Sep, Police Lieutenant Colonel Suranant Meepan, an investigator at Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan Police Station, received a report of a van crashing into a wall fence at the Don Sai intersection leading to Sukjit Road within Prachuap Khiri Khan municipality.
Upon arrival, three patrol vehicles from Prachuap Khiri Khan Highway Police were present, including Lieutenant Commander Prawit Phuthong, deputy inspector of Highway Patrol Unit 3, Division 2, along with highway police officers, narcotics suppression officers from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, investigators from Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police, and dozens of officers from Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan Police Station surrounding the vehicle.
They controlled the driver, Mr. Mintada, 23, a native of Kanchanaburi Province, wearing a black hooded jacket and black jeans. His hands were cuffed behind his back, guarded by police. The van, a silver-bronze Toyota registered in Bangkok, had crashed through and damaged two sections of the fence wall. Fortunately, trees beside the fence absorbed the impact, preventing the vehicle from hitting the building.
Officers opened both side doors and found several dozen sacks containing multiple bags of narcotics. The van’s front was severely damaged. The vehicle was loaded onto a flatbed tow truck and taken to the 3rd Division, Prachuap Khiri Khan Police Station for evidence examination. Subsequently, Police Colonel Prasong Phansawat, commander of Division 4, Narcotics Suppression Bureau, and Colonel Prakarn Janjana, deputy commander of the Jor Ngor Suek Task Force, Surasi Force, joined the inspection.
The seized items included 23 sacks removed from the van’s cabin. Upon opening, each sack contained 20 one-kilogram packets of narcotics, totaling 464 packets or 464 kilograms, valued at 464 million baht.
Narcotics suppression officers revealed they had intelligence that the suspect had collected drugs from Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, to deliver to Songkhla Province. They tracked the suspect's route until reaching Bo Nok Subdistrict, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District, and coordinated with Prachuap Khiri Khan highway police to intercept the vehicle.
When the suspect realized he was being followed, he accelerated to flee. Passing through Prachuap Khiri Khan intersection—the main route into the city—the suspect took a secondary road via Koh Lak intersection onto Koh Lak Road to evade police. However, unfamiliar with the area, he turned at Don Sai intersection where Koh Lak Road meets Sukjit Road. Due to the curve, the vehicle lost control and crashed into a house fence, leading to his arrest.
The driver, Mr. Mintada, admitted to transporting drugs twice before, earning 150,000 baht each time. This latest trip was his third, for which he was paid 500,000 baht because it was a long-distance route from the far north to the far south. He drove a Toyota Commuter van carrying the ice, stopping in Lampang Province to change vehicles before continuing south. He stayed overnight at a hotel in Ratchaburi Province before being apprehended. The 500,000 baht payment was intended to fund his wedding ceremony with his fiancée.
Narcotics suppression officers have taken the suspect and evidence to the Narcotics Suppression Command for further investigation and prosecution.
