Udonthani – Police raided and arrested a gang led by the son of a village headman in Udonthani city who operated a field hut at the edge of a rice field to use and sell methamphetamine. They seized 214 pills as evidence. The suspect admitted to using meth since age 15, consuming at least 10 pills daily. His father also uses meth but does not purchase from him.
At 11:30 a.m. on 22 September 2026, at the investigation room of Non Sung Subdistrict Police Station, Mueang District, Udonthani province, Lieutenant Colonel Udomchok Singhakulsiri, deputy chief investigator, along with the “Bongkot” investigation team, arrested methamphetamine dealers and users known as the “Village Headman's Son Gang.” The suspects included Mr. Chanoknan Wanprom or Fluk, 23, from Inplaeng Village, Moo 8, Ban Tat Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udonthani, the son of a local village headman and gang leader. Evidence included 142 meth pills in a black sling bag, clear resealable plastic bags measuring 4 by 6 cm weighing 3 kilograms for packaging meth, and one mobile phone used for drug transactions.
Also arrested were Mr. Boonanan Luealuang or Boss, 23, from Nong Hai Village, Moo 1, Nong Hai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udonthani, with 67 meth pills and one mobile phone; Mr. Warayut Wilairat or Not, 26, from Suksomboon Village, Moo 10, Ban Tat Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udonthani, with 5 meth pills; and Ms. Pearisa Thetsakiew or Y, 25, from Kamkling Village, Ban Chan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udonthani, wife of Mr. Boss. They were caught sitting together using meth inside the field hut after buying meth from Fluk for personal use and resale.
The arrests occurred at a field hut north of Inplaeng Village, Ban Tat Subdistrict, Mueang Udonthani. All suspects were taken in for interrogation and tested positive in urine screening, indicated by purple coloration.
Charges were filed as follows: Mr. Fluk, son of the Ban Tat village headman, and Mr. Boss were charged with using and distributing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) by possessing for sale with intent to trade, violating the law. Mr. Not was charged with illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine). Ms. Y, wife of Mr. Boss, was charged with using Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) unlawfully. All were handed over to investigators at Non Sung Subdistrict Police Station for legal proceedings.
This operation stemmed from a tip-off at 10:30 p.m. on 21 September 2026, when Lieutenant Colonel Udomchok Singhakulsiri received intelligence that Mr. Fluk, the village headman’s son, was gathering to use and sell meth at a field hut behind the village, which is his residence. Police planned a tight operation to prevent escape, using motorcycles to move stealthily so the suspects would not detect the police presence, successfully arresting the entire gang with the seized evidence.
After the arrests, the female village headwoman of Ban Tat Subdistrict came forward to identify the field hut as her property and acknowledged being Fluk’s mother. Seeing her son arrested with his gang left her speechless. She told police to proceed with legal actions, admitting she only knew her son was addicted but was unaware of his trafficking. Attempts to send him for rehabilitation failed as he refused and repeatedly escaped. She said she no longer has any way to discipline him.
In questioning, Mr. Fluk confessed that he had used three meth pills before the police arrived. He has been addicted since age 15 and currently consumes at least 10 pills daily. Two to three years ago, lacking funds to buy drugs, he decided to become a dealer, purchasing 600 meth pills at a time from friends in other villages at 3,500 baht per bag, then selling to gang members and customers at 20–50 baht per pill, depending on quantity.
Fluk said he felt ashamed being the son of a village headman, whose mother is a local leader. He apologized for disobeying his mother, who tried to take him for treatment but he always refused and escaped. He now feels remorse and vows to quit using and selling drugs. He added that his father forbade him from involvement with meth, but he did not listen as his father also uses meth, though he does not buy from Fluk.
Lieutenant Colonel Udomchok Singhakulsiri, deputy chief investigator at Non Sung Subdistrict Police Station, revealed that Fluk had no prior arrests, but the other three had been previously caught for drug use multiple times yet never quit. They have been addicted since youth. At the raid, all were shocked and panicked; some dropped meth pills but admitted ownership. This time, the police planned more thoroughly than before, when the suspects often escaped in the dark. Previously, they met in various field huts including one owned by Fluk’s father or abandoned huts inaccessible by vehicle in Ban Tat Subdistrict. This time they sold meth in Fluk’s mother’s field hut. Police used motorcycles to enter unnoticed.
Fluk is considered a mid-level meth dealer acting as an agent in Ban Tat Subdistrict, selling to local youth. Police had monitored him for over a year. His mother had warned and tried to send him for treatment, but he resisted and escaped each time. She was unaware he had become a dealer. Regarding his claim that his father also uses meth, police confirmed that information from their investigation but he does not sell or supply meth to his father, who sources it elsewhere unknown to Fluk.
Regarding the 3 kilograms of resealable bags used for packaging thousands of meth pills, Fluk said he bought them to package meth for sale in bulk. This contradicts his statement of buying only 600 pills at a time, so police remain skeptical but consider his information useful to trace further suppliers. While Lieutenant Colonel Udomchok Singhakulsiri was briefing reporters, several customers called Fluk’s phone to order meth multiple times.
