In Mae Hong Son, the headman of Mae Ho Subdistrict led the Community Defense Volunteers, coordinating with relevant agencies to intercept two men hiding nine methamphetamine pills. The suspects tried to bribe officials with 300,000 baht in exchange for not being prosecuted, but the officers firmly and immediately refused, proceeding with legal action.
On 23 Sep 2026, Mr. Worachak Panthong, Chief District Officer of Mae Sariang, disclosed that the Mae Sariang District Administration, led by Mr. Prasert Saisaard, headman of Mae Ho Subdistrict, deployed Community Defense Volunteers to patrol and maintain order, as well as to prevent drug problems around Ban Mae Lid Luang, Village No. 2, Mae Ho Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province. This was in line with government and Ministry of Interior policies. On 22 Sep 2026, while on duty, officials encountered two suspicious men riding a motorcycle together and decided to conduct a search.
The search uncovered nine orange-colored methamphetamine pills stamped with "WY" on one side, classified as Category 1 narcotics, concealed inside a plastic bag hidden in the right boot of one suspect.
During the arrest, the suspects attempted to offer a bribe of 300,000 baht to the officers in exchange for dropping charges. However, the Community Defense Volunteers immediately rejected the offer, reported the incident to the Mae Sariang district chief, and requested additional support.
Subsequently, Mr. Worachak Panthong, Chief District Officer of Mae Sariang, ordered Mr. Bodin Decha, Deputy District Officer for Security, to lead a special operations team from the Mae Sariang district administration. They coordinated with Mae Sariang Police Station officers to detain the suspects along with the evidence and handed them over to the police for prosecution.
