The Metropolitan Police Chief has ordered the formation of an investigative committee and is preparing to transfer five senior officers from Din Daeng Police Station to the Metropolitan Police Operation Center 1 after Interior Ministry Deputy Minister led a Department of Provincial Administration task force to raid a gambling den in the Din Daeng area.
The case involves Worasit Liangprasith, Deputy Minister of Interior (Interior Ministry Deputy Minister 4), who led a special operations unit from the Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA S.W.A.T.) along with administrative officials to take control and inspect a large illegal gambling den in Din Daeng subdistrict and district, Bangkok. They arrested eight bookmakers and 45 gamblers—22 men and 23 women—with two Cambodian organizers among them. No one claimed ownership of the gambling den. Authorities seized approximately 350,000 baht in cash, about 635,000 baht in gambling chips, high-tech dice game equipment, account books for money circulation, and various gambling devices on 23 September at 18:30.
At 19:30 on 23 September at the Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Chief of the Metropolitan Police, instructed Pol. Maj. Gen. Warasak Phisitbanakorn, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, to establish a committee to investigate the facts and examine any negligence by Pol. Col. Pasit Kateueng-ngan, Superintendent of Din Daeng Police Station, and other involved officers. If found negligent, disciplinary actions will be considered. Meanwhile, superiors at Metropolitan Police Division 1 are currently considering reassigning these officers to duty at Metropolitan Police Operation Center 1.
