On 24 Sep 2026 GMT+7, in courtroom 914 of the Criminal Court, the verdict was delivered in the case of the joint murder of Mr. Chaimet Sitthisanitpong, also known as former Councilor Tong, case number A629/2568. The prosecution, led by the Criminal Division 5 of the Attorney General's Office, charged defendants: Mr. Thanatsaran Korn Techathanat Chot as defendant 1, Mr. Saksit or Toon Chinwong as defendant 2, Mr. Thanapat or Nao Songsang as defendant 3, Mr. Apisit or Bas Sodchoen as defendant 4, Mr. Sitthichai or Jim or Jin Sriphakdi as defendant 5, Mr. Patthanan or Off Boonchu as defendant 6, Mr. Sunthorn Wilawan or Kotorn, former Prachinburi Provincial Administrative Organization Chief Executive and former Deputy Minister of Public Health, as defendant 7, and Ms. Minchyarat or May Patcharamarnkul as defendant 8, jointly charged with murder and violating the Firearms Act.
The prosecution summarized the charges stating that on the night of 11 December 2024, Mr. Sunthorn ordered the other defendants to shoot Mr. Chaimet Sitthisanitpong, or Councilor Tong of Prachinburi, 22 times, killing him inside a residence on Wat Roman Uthit Road, Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachinburi Province. The residence belonged to Mr. Sunthorn Wilawan or Kotorn, former Prachinburi PAO chief and former Deputy Minister of Public Health. The defendants who pleaded not guilty were brought from prison to hear the verdict.
Recently, reports indicate that the Criminal Court sentenced "Kotorn" and four others to death for the shooting of Councilor Tong. They were ordered to pay damages amounting to 801,400 baht. Due to their beneficial testimony, their sentences were reduced to life imprisonment.
