A Myanmar man went berserk, destroying property and dismantling a spirit house. He wielded a 10-inch kitchen knife to attack locals, injuring three people inside Soi Sukhumvit 21. Authorities took him into custody at Lumpini Police Station.
At 07:40 on 24 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Arpapak Duangngern, Deputy Investigation Officer at Lumpini Police Station, received a report of a violent man causing a disturbance opposite Ocean Tower 2, Soi Sukhumvit 21 Intersection 2, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana District, Bangkok. She promptly responded with Police Colonel Yingyot Suwannano, Chief of Lumpini Police Station, Deputy Chief of Investigation Police Lieutenant Therdsak Manatchon, Patrol Officer Winithorn Tanapornsri, patrol staff, the MPB SWAT team, and volunteers from Poh Teck Tung Foundation.
At the scene, they found a violent 24-year-old Myanmar man wielding a roughly 10-inch kitchen knife, attacking people, dismantling a spirit house, and damaging goods in nearby shops. Patrol officers and the MPB SWAT team subdued him using batons.
Three injured individuals were found: Mr. Ekachai, 30, who suffered a left facial knife wound; Ms. Mi Shwe Zin Htet, 30, a Myanmar woman with a head knife wound; and Ms. Duangporn, 58, with a facial knife injury. All three were taken to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition.
During questioning, Mr. Amnat Bualek, a security guard at Ocean Tower 2, reported that before the incident, someone ran to him asking for help after being attacked with a knife. The attacker was loud and destructive, smashing property. Authorities were alerted promptly, and the suspect was taken to Lumpini Police Station for drug testing and further legal procedures.
