The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) joined forces with the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Narcotics Suppression Bureau, and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to report the results of the "Safe BKK" three-month drug crackdown, arresting 3,644 people, seizing 23.5 million methamphetamine pills, 2,336.17 kilograms of crystal meth, and confiscating assets worth over 253 million baht.
At 08:00 on 25 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Chatchat Sitthiphan, Governor of Bangkok and Director of the Bangkok Narcotics Control Center, led joint forces with Police Major General Theeradej Thamsuthi, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, and Preecha Mekanan, Director of the ONCB Bangkok Office, alongside partner agencies to advance the "Safe BKK" operation under the government's “Operation 90 Days to Eradicate Drugs.” About 150 officers raided 29 targets in the Pracha Uthit 107 community (Soi Wat Thung Khru), Thung Khru district, to prosecute drug dealers and refer users for rehabilitation.
They seized evidence including 5 methamphetamine pills, 4 grams of crystal meth, and some drug paraphernalia. Seven users were found, all voluntarily entering treatment and referred to the Public Health Service Center under Section 114 of the Narcotics Act, which allows users or possessors detected by authorities to avoid prosecution if they willingly undergo rehabilitation, provided they have no other cases, are not serving sentences, and do not pose a threat to others or society.
Governor Chatchat said that although Bangkok agencies continuously work to prevent and suppress drugs, many citizens still report numerous drug-selling and gathering spots. Therefore, all agencies must integrate efforts to re-examine high-risk communities across all 50 districts alongside suppressing dealers and supporting users. This operation in Thung Khru district resulted from citizen tips via hotline 1386, leading to further investigations.
The operation focused on cracking down on small-scale dealers, cutting financial networks, and identifying and treating users. Over three months (July–September 2026), authorities arrested 3,644 drug-related suspects: 1,760 serious drug offenses and 1,884 users or possessors for consumption. Seized drugs included 23.5 million methamphetamine pills, 2,336.17 kilograms of crystal meth, 2,756 kilograms of ketamine, 10,562 ecstasy pills, 313 grams of heroin, and 18 grams of cocaine. Assets of key dealers valued at over 253 million baht were confiscated. Screening identified 1,245 at-risk individuals, with 887 entering rehabilitation.
Preecha Mekanan, Director of the ONCB Bangkok Office, thanked the public for their vigilance in reporting drug-related information and emphasized that "users are patients" who deserve treatment opportunities. Meanwhile, dealers will face legal prosecution and asset seizures related to their crimes to jointly build a "Safe Bangkok" and sustainable strong communities.
