Raid on Two Major Online Gambling Admins in Chiang Rai City Reveals Over 420 Million Baht Annual Turnover

The Cyber Police Commander ordered a raid on two major online gambling administrators in central Chiang Rai, uncovering an annual turnover exceeding 420 million baht.


On 6 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Thinkorn Rangmat, Commander of the Cyber Crime Division, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Kritat Bamrungratnayot, Commander of Cyber Crime Unit 4, ordered Pol. Col. Puttipat Phonmchaijirakul, Commander of Unit 4, Cyber Crime Unit 4, along with Pol. Lt. Chaiyat Chuesai, Deputy Commander, and Pol. Lt. Siripong Phetchara, Investigator, to take action.


They led forces with search warrant No. 84/2569 from Chiang Rai Provincial Court to search a house in Village 3, Ban Du Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai Province, arresting Mr. Thanadon Chumphuin, 40, and Ms. Pimol Khueanphet, 40, and seized two laptops, two computers, and internet equipment.


Investigations found two large illegal online gambling networks: “whanmoo88” with a monthly turnover of 15 million baht, and “SBOBET” with 20 million baht monthly, totaling over 420 million baht annually. They offered bets on lottery, slots, international football, baccarat, dragon tiger, hi-lo, Pok Deng, and many other types of gambling.


Further investigation revealed these two gambling websites were based in Chiang Rai Province. Authorities compiled evidence, obtained court approval for search warrants, then proceeded to arrest the offenders.



During questioning, Mr. Thanadon confessed to being an admin for the SBOBET website for over 10 years, receiving a monthly salary of 23,500 baht. Ms. Pimol admitted to being an admin for whanmoo88 for over 2 years, earning between 13,000 and 15,000 baht monthly.


They were charged with the offense of “organizing or inducing electronic gambling without permission.”
