Corrections Department Confirms No Abuse or Harassment of Atchariya in Prison

The Corrections Department explained that it is caring for "Atchariya," a suspect in fraud and money laundering cases, according to standards. There is no evidence he has been harmed or harassed by other inmates. He is experiencing stress but continues to eat normally, and no abnormalities were found.

On 7 Oct 2026, reporters noted that social media rumors claimed Mr. Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, involved in fraud, money laundering, and computer crime cases, was being harassed inside Bangkok Remand Prison. The Corrections Department firmly denied any such harassment.

The Corrections Department received reports from Bangkok Remand Prison confirming that Mr. Atchariya has not been physically harmed or harassed by other inmates. He was taken into custody on 5 Oct 2026 under a court order. The prison is managing inmates under the 50Ps standard procedures, placing him in Cell 21 of Block 2 (reception area), a cell for vulnerable inmates housing four prisoners. Currently, he is quarantined until 11 Oct 2026 as part of new inmate screening and control measures.

An initial health examination found that Mr. Atchariya has pre-existing medical conditions and is experiencing stress. He is able to eat normally and shows no abnormal symptoms. Prison officers, professional nurses, and prison health volunteers are closely monitoring and caring for him. Additionally, CCTV cameras operate 24 hours a day to ensure safety and supervision, maintaining correctional standards.

The Corrections Department emphasizes that all inmates are treated appropriately according to law and human rights principles, with consideration for safety, health, and human dignity. The public is encouraged to trust the department’s commitment to its duties.
