The National Police Chief held a focused meeting on security arrangements for the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings, expressed gratitude to all police officers for their service, and emphasized facilitating traffic and managing public demonstrations in line with international norms.

On 16 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Police General Samran Nualma, the National Police Chief, chaired a meeting to monitor security, traffic, and public health for the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings at the CCOC meeting room in the Tobacco Museum, Bangkok. Also attending were Assistant Police Chief Nithithorn Jintakanon, Police Chief of Metropolitan Police Division Siam Boonsom, Police Chief of Special Operations Division Yaswin Hansamon, Police Spokesperson Siriwat Deepho, and other relevant officials.

The National Police Chief thanked all police officers for their dedication and commitment to performing their duties as good hosts and enhancing Thailand’s reputation. He urged all units to strictly follow the security plans, especially safeguarding national leaders and their spouses during their missions at various locations. He also emphasized that personnel should be well-groomed, polite, and efficient in their duties.

Regarding traffic management around the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, where some routes will be closed, the Police Chief instructed proper organization of vehicle and pedestrian access to prevent congestion and ensure timely response to incidents.

He also stressed that officers should facilitate public travel and continuously inform the public about road closures, timings, and alternative routes so that people can plan their journeys smoothly.

On managing public demonstrations, the Police Chief ordered appropriate deployment and management of personnel proportionally, following legal procedures, international standards, and tactical guidelines without using violence. He requested demonstrators to comply with the Public Assembly Act and follow officials’ advice.

Furthermore, the Police Chief instructed commanders to closely oversee the welfare and benefits of their personnel. He presented financial support to Sergeant Major Krathawat Thapthimhorm, a patrol officer from Thammasala Police Station, currently assigned to Dusit Police Station, who was injured on duty on 15 October, as encouragement to continue their work.
