The People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) stormed the National Police Headquarters demanding Police Chief Samran Nuanma to sweep away grey businesses, corrupt police officers, and grey-area politicians. They pushed for making anti-scammer efforts a national priority and called for MP “Idea” to resign, emphasizing their lack of confidence in the Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), who they suspect might be involved in whitewashing cases.
On 21 Oct 2026 GMT+7, at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, Mr. Phichit Chaimongkol, a leader of the PDRC student and public network, along with his team, submitted a letter to Police General Samran Nuanma, the National Police Chief, urging urgent crackdowns on grey businesses, scammer gangs, and online gambling networks. They also called for investigations into state officials possibly neglecting duties by allowing illegal capital to operate in Thailand. Police Lieutenant Colonel Sujarit Chothabtim, Deputy Superintendent of Intelligence Analysis and Reporting, accepted the letter on behalf of the police chief.
Mr. Phichit stated that Thailand has been plagued by numerous grey businesses, and as long as such grey capital remains, it reflects insufficient law enforcement, especially by the police. Therefore, with the new appointment of the National Police Chief, the PDRC wants to push this issue as a national agenda to urgently combat grey businesses, corrupt police, and grey-area politicians. He noted that new appointees often start diligently but tend to slacken their duties over time.
Mr. Phichit added that before submitting the letter today, he had already approached the Prime Minister, as head of national security, to address the issue. Moving forward, the network will mobilize across the country, especially in Phuket province, to raise awareness against allowing certain foreign groups from entering the country, as they believe this harms the nation. They called on national security agencies such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission, and the DSI to cooperate in resolving the problem. They also proposed the government revoke the free visa policy for foreigners, seeing the influx of tourists as an increased burden on officers and security forces.
Furthermore, Mr. Phichit urged police to prosecute politicians involved in grey businesses, scammer gangs, or online gambling. He mentioned that the DSI is currently investigating these issues, particularly regarding Ms. Suchada Sang Thansub, also known as "Idea," an MP from the Bhumjaithai Party representing Chaiyaphum province, and her husband, who have been implicated in connection with online gambling.
Mr. Phichit expressed suspicion that Police Captain Piya Raksakul, Director-General of the DSI, might whitewash this case, citing his previous role as Chairman of the Subcommittee investigating vote-rigging cases. Moreover, Ms. Suchada’s party promotes anti-scammer policies, yet one of its MPs is allegedly involved. Therefore, he believes Ms. Suchada should take responsibility by resigning, as her involvement tarnishes the ethical standards of politicians.
