Police Raid Illegal Card Gambling Den in Sattahip Resort, Arrest 26 Gamblers

Sattahip Police joined forces with local administrative officials to surround and raid an illegal nine-card gambling den, arresting 26 seasoned gamblers. The operation uncovered a mobile gambling ring with lookouts who failed to warn players in time, leading to arrests with numerous seized items.

At 23:30 on 21 Oct 2016, Mr. Nattawut Anuyotha, Sattahip District Chief, coordinated with Police Colonel Komsan Kamtoonkaw, Superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kriangkrai Meesang, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Police Lieutenant Colonel Apichat Namchant, Investigation Officer, Ms. Naphatsawan Anon, Sattahip District Officer, Police Captain Kosol Sila, and investigative teams from Sattahip Police and local administrative officers to conduct a raid on a mobile gambling den inside a resort in Bang Sare Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province.

More than 15 officers secured all entrances and exits before launching a surprise raid, apprehending 26 gamblers—9 men and 17 women—caught in the act of loudly playing nine-card games for stakes. Lookouts failed to alert the players in time.

Inside the room, officers found food and beverages prepared for the gamblers. They detained all suspects and seized evidence before transferring them to the Sattahip Police for legal action.

During questioning, Mr. Sawat Taowises, 68, admitted to arranging the venue and inviting gamblers to play. Sessions started around 21:00 and continued until 03:00 the next day, with the location changing frequently and no fixed site. He said this was his first time running such a gambling ring in Sattahip District before being caught by authorities.

Officials revealed they received reports of illegal gambling in the area. The Sattahip Police investigative team collaborated with local administrative officers to plan and conduct the raid, successfully detaining all 26 individuals involved.

Initially, authorities charged Mr. Sawat with organizing unauthorized gambling for stakes, while the gamblers were charged with jointly engaging in unauthorized nine-card gambling for stakes. All were handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
