Pattaya Operation Nets Chinese Man Wanted in 1.5 Billion Baht Gambling Case Uncovers Identity Fraud Network

Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopadol Poolsawat, Commander of the Immigration Bureau, teamed up with Pol. Lt. Gen. Wasan Techakakrasem, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, to conduct an operation in Pattaya city, arresting a Chinese national wanted under an Interpol Red Notice in connection with a 1.5 billion baht gambling case and uncovering a network involved in identity fraud.

On 21 Oct 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopadol Poolsawat, Commander of the Immigration Bureau, along with Pol. Lt. Gen. Wasan Techakakrasem, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, Pol. Maj. Gen. Choengron Rimpadee, Deputy Commander of the Immigration Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Decho Sosuwanakul, Commander of Immigration Division 5, Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, Pol. Col. Napatpong Kositsuriyamanee, Chief of Chonburi Immigration, Pol. Col. Suriya Puangsombat, Chief of Investigation Unit, Immigration Division 3, and officers from Chonburi Immigration arrested Mr. Jianlu Li, 37, a Chinese national, at his private residence in Pattaya, Chonburi. He was identified as a subject of an Interpol Red Notice sought by Chinese authorities for operating illegal gambling activities causing damages totaling over 1.5 billion baht.

Following a search of the residence on 10 Apr 2025, Mrs. Yourui Wang, 33, a Chinese national holding a temporary visa based on sponsorship of a Thai child, and a two-year-old Thai girl named Kasera were found at the home. This raised suspicions about their biological relationship.

A review of the birth certificate showed a 22-year-old Thai man listed as the father. Authorities summoned related individuals for DNA testing to verify the facts. The results revealed that the Thai man named on the birth certificate was not biologically related to the child, while Mr. Jianlu Li, the Chinese suspect, was confirmed to be the biological father.

Chonburi Immigration has gathered evidence and submitted it to the Pattaya City Registration Office for legal consideration regarding the child's registration and nationality status, with plans to revoke the child's Thai nationality. Investigations are ongoing into the identity fraud network involving paid surrogate fathers and those who may have improperly certified paternity. Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against Mrs. Yourui Wang at Pattaya Police Station for using false documents to apply for legal residence extension, with prosecution to be pursued strictly according to law.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopadol said this operation aligns with policies set by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Police Chief Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma to aggressively combat transnational crime and foreign offenders violating laws, to ensure public and tourist safety and build confidence in law enforcement. He emphasized that all units must intensify investigations, crackdowns, and deportation efforts following the approach, “Investigate, suppress, gather information, then arrest and deport; do not allow offenders to remain in our country.” The public is encouraged to report any criminal activity or tips via the Immigration Bureau hotline 1178 or the website www.immigration.go.th.
