Police Seize 2.6 Million Methamphetamine Pills from Brazen Drug Gang Transporting from Mukdahan to Buriram

Mukdahan Provincial Police Investigation Unit launched an operation to intercept suspicious vehicles transporting 2.6 million methamphetamine pills from Mukdahan city en route to Buriram province, and seized the drugs.

On 24 October 2026, Mukdahan Provincial Police investigation officers launched an operation to intercept suspicious vehicles transporting drugs after learning that between 22-23 October 2026, a drug trafficking group planned to smuggle drugs from Bang Sai Yai Subdistrict, Mueang Mukdahan District, Mukdahan Province to Buriram Province using a Toyota Camry with license plate ชถ 4859 Bangkok to carry the drugs and a red MG car with license plate 1กข3996 Bangkok as a lead vehicle heading to inner parts of the country.

Under the command of Pol. Maj. Gen. Phairoj Thaiputra, Mukdahan Provincial Police Commander, and Pol. Col. Kitthisit Bamrung, Deputy Commander, Pol. Col. Wichit Boonwan, Chief of Nong Sung Police Station and Head of Mukdahan Provincial Narcotics Suppression Unit, and Pol. Lt. Col. Tawisak, Head of the Investigation Unit, conducted intelligence gathering and found both vehicles in Mukdahan Province. They then planned and followed the suspected vehicles for arrest.

At the traffic light intersection in front of the Mukdahan-Nikom Kham Soi Police Station traffic booth on Chayangkul Road, Nikom Kham Soi Subdistrict, officers spotted the suspicious vehicles accelerating to run a red light to escape. Officers fired tire shots to stop the vehicle and then arrested those involved.

A search of the bronze Toyota Camry with license plate ชถ 4859 Bangkok found five sacks of methamphetamine pills hidden: three inside the car and two at the rear, totaling approximately 2,620,000 pills. The red MG car with license plate 1กข-3996 Bangkok was used as the lead vehicle. Four suspects were arrested: Mr. Thinnaphat, 18, from Pakham District, Buriram; Mr. Moss, 24, from Lahan Sai District, Buriram; Mr. Chinwat, 24, from Nang Rong District, Buriram; and Mr. Suphot, 31, from Prasat District, Surin.

Initial information indicates the red MG car served as a scout vehicle to lead and monitor the route for the drug transport vehicle. It was reported that a drug boss from Nakhon Ratchasima instructed the suspects to collect both vehicles there to load all the methamphetamine. The suspects stayed in Mukdahan Province for three days before the operation, using the period around the King’s Memorial Day holiday to transport the drugs.

The arresting officers took the four male suspects and evidence to the Mukdahan Provincial Police Investigation Unit for interrogation to trace the origin of the drugs, the trafficking routes, and other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network. They will proceed with legal actions accordingly.
