In January 2026 GMT+7, the Crime Suppression Division launched the operation "Whisper from Sribunpot," dismantling a fake account factory in Mueang District, Phatthalung Province, arresting key suspects who deceived locals into opening fake bank accounts, with many victims filing online complaints.

Investigations revealed that the scammer gang not only used fake accounts to deceive people but also employed these accounts in online gambling businesses. Officers from Division 6, Crime Suppression Division, investigated further, obtained arrest warrants for the gambling network, and then conducted a joint operation "to crack down on online gambling networks," searching nine locations in Chonburi Province. They arrested eight suspects and seized evidence including two computers, 14 mobile phones, 10 bank passbooks, 19 ATM cards, 42,000 baht in cash, and some ketamine drugs.

Initial interrogations showed some suspects confessed while others denied the charges. All suspects and seized evidence were handed over to investigators at Division 6, Crime Suppression Division, to proceed with legal action.
