Commando Unit Arrests Another Call Center Gang Member Posing as Police Victim Tricked into Transferring Money 64 Times, Losing 8.2 Million Baht

A commando unit arrested a member of a call center gang who pretended to be police officers to recover money from victims scammed while ordering mobile phones via Facebook. They tricked victims into clicking a transfer link 64 times, causing losses totaling 8.2 million baht.

On 29 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Maj. Gen. Arun Wachirasrisukanya, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, ordered Pol. Col. Apichon Khanka, Superintendent of Division 4, and Pol. Lt. Paiboon Pimkarnet, Inspector of Division 4, to arrest Ms. Usuma (surname withheld), 38, wanted under a Chiang Mai Provincial Court warrant No. J.6647/2568 dated 26 Nov 2025 GMT+7. She faces charges of aiding fraud by impersonating another person, supporting fraudulent entry of false data into computer systems likely causing damage to individuals, and permitting others to use her bank or electronic accounts knowing they would be used in technology-related crimes.

The arrest took place along Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road in the Chatuchak district of Bangkok.

The arrest followed a complaint from a victim who had been scammed after ordering a mobile phone via Facebook. Subsequently, a suspect claiming to be "Lieutenant Colonel Krirkpol Supasereepap" contacted the victim on Line, falsely presenting himself as a police officer from the system inspection unit. He pretended to help recover the money and sent fake links for the victim to click. The victim was then lured into contacting an accomplice claiming to be an "accounting officer" and was tricked into transferring fees multiple times. The victim made 64 transfers totaling 8,163,191 baht before the victim's son noticed irregularities, stopped his mother, and filed a police report at Phuping Police Station in Chiang Mai.

Investigations revealed that Ms. Usuma, one of the suspects wanted under the warrant, had traveled to Bangkok along Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road. The arrest team then conducted the arrest there.

During questioning, Ms. Usuma denied ever opening a mule account or lending her account to others, denying involvement with the scammer gang. She claimed she normally lived alone at a rubber plantation house and had kept her bankbook, passwords, and ID card at home, but these might have been lost during a flood, which she did not report to authorities. She was taken to Phuping Police Station for further legal proceedings.
