Fire Ravages Dozens of Homes in Bon Kai Community Relief Center Established to Aid Victims

A fire broke out late at night in the Patthana Bon Kai community, damaging dozens of homes. Approximately 70 families have been affected. Authorities are urgently investigating the cause and have established a relief center to assist the victims.

At 00:47 on 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jetsaphong Meepetchan, an investigator at Lumphini Police Station, received reports of a fire at the Patthana Bon Kai community in Soi Plukjit 1, Rama 4 Road, Lumphini Subdistrict, Pathumwan District, Bangkok. He, along with Police Colonel Yingyos Suwanno, the chief of Lumphini Police Station, officials from the Bangkok Fire Prevention and Mitigation Office, five fire trucks, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation, promptly proceeded to the scene.

The site was a densely populated community with narrow alleys. Flames were engulfing several adjacent two-story wooden houses and spreading rapidly and intensely. Residents panicked and fled the area. Firefighters sprayed water for over an hour before extinguishing the blaze. Initially, 15 homes were destroyed. Two volunteers were injured—one suffered smoke inhalation, and another was cut by corrugated metal sheets; both were taken to a nearby hospital.

Preliminary estimates suggest that several dozen homes were damaged by the fire, affecting approximately 70 families.

Following the incident, the Pathumwan District Office and the Bangkok Fire Prevention and Mitigation Office announced that those affected by the fire could register for assistance at the Bon Kai Housing Community Public Pavilion or at the Pathumwan District Office, where a command center has been established to coordinate relief efforts.

Meanwhile, police have coordinated with the forensic department to investigate and determine the true cause of the fire.
