Police arrested an online fortune teller who used AI to create predictions, scamming victims of more than 80,000 baht. The suspect revealed he had operated for four years, making 10 million baht, which he spent on personal expenses and gambling.
At 14:00 on 3 Nov 2026, Pol. Col. Phumisit Tangwitdecha, Superintendent of Bang Srimuang Police Station, along with Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Ekaphon Deephlipon and other officers, executed a search warrant from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Court at a house in Bang Sai Subdistrict, Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Confiscated items included fake gold bracelets, pawn tickets, car keys, mobile phones, and a safe.
They arrested Mr. Siwakhon, 24, wanted under Nonthaburi Provincial Court warrant No. 1744/2569 for fraud by impersonation and inputting distorted or false computer data likely to cause damage to others.
The case originated on 27 Oct 2026 when a victim filed a complaint at Bang Srimuang Police Station after being deceived via social media.
The victim initially saw a post in the Facebook group “Free Fortune Telling 24 Hours Help People,” where a Facebook account named “Luis Diaz” commented a Line QR code recommending a kind and accurate fortune teller who charged no fees. The victim added the contact on the Line app.
On 21 Oct 2026, around 03:00, the suspect called to perform a fortune-telling ritual, tricking the victim into cardless ATM withdrawals and providing OTP codes. Two withdrawals of 25,000 baht each were made from a Siam Commercial Bank account, totaling 50,000 baht. Then, the suspect claimed he would recover the money and persuaded the victim to scan a Kasikorn Bank QR code, resulting in another 30,000 baht withdrawal. The total loss was 80,000 baht at the victim's home in Bang Rak Noi Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District.
After the complaint, Bang Srimuang police investigated financial trails and CCTV footage. They identified the ATM withdrawal location at a CJ Express convenience store in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Comparing suspect images with phone registration data led to identifying Mr. Siwakhon. Police secured a warrant and eventually arrested him.
During the search, Mr. Siwakhon was found sleeping at his residence and was taken into custody to Bang Srimuang Police Station for prosecution.
Mr. Siwakhon, or 'To,' confessed he posted messages about fortune-telling in the group “Free Fortune Telling 24 Hours Help People.” He received Line messages from people seeking readings about life problems, relationships, and more.
After chatting, he asked for the birth date of the person seeking a reading and used AI to analyze it. He then sent the AI-generated message back. Some readings matched the person's situation, others did not. For those that matched, he requested money as donations or for fortune correction, receiving transfers ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of baht.
One victim he read for over two years paid him about 2 million baht. He admitted operating for over four years, earning about 10 million baht in total, which he spent on daily expenses and gambling such as boxing, cockfighting, and fish-biting betting.
With victims he grew close to, he borrowed money claiming it was for investment. The latest victim transferred money three times: two payments of 25,000 baht and one of 30,000 baht, totaling 80,000 baht as payment for a ritual to change fate.
Later, Mrs. A (pseudonym), 54, the latest victim wearing a mask and glasses with blurred face and voice, came to give testimony. Upon seeing Mr. Siwakhon, she lost control and scolded him, forcing police to separate them.
Police announced that any other victims defrauded by Mr. Siwakhon should report to their local police stations so investigators can detain him for additional charges.
After arrest, the suspect was handed over to Bang Srimuang Police Station in Nonthaburi Province for prosecution.
