The ONCB advances its 'Cutting Out the Cancer' campaign by arresting three state hospital staff, discovering a female nursing assistant with a positive drug urine test, and seizing over a thousand illegal pills during an expanded crackdown.
On 4 Nov 2026 GMT+7, the ONCB under the Ministry of Justice proceeded with a six-month drug war operation plan in line with government policy and directives from ONCB Secretary Suriyan Singhakom, focusing on purging state officials involved with drugs.
Recently, forces integrated efforts for the 29th 'Cutting Out the Cancer' operation in Sukhothai province, inspecting and arresting medical personnel and drug trafficking networks. This operation dismantled seven individuals linked to the network, including three hospital staff and four external associates, seizing a total of 1,359 methamphetamine pills.
Following a tip received late on 2 to early 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7 via hotline 1386, ONCB Region 6 investigated a hospital ward orderly in Mueang district, Sukhothai, suspected of drug use. The individual confessed and voluntarily entered treatment, providing information to expand the investigation to a major dealer network within the same hospital staff.
Authorities then coordinated with Sukhothai Provincial Narcotics Control Center, provincial police, local administration, Region 6 Investigation Division, and Internal Security Operations Command to arrest a hospital driver, seizing 230 methamphetamine pills. Senior hospital management was informed, leading to a search of the suspect's residence where 22 additional pills were found, totaling 252 pills seized.
Further expansion led to a raid capturing a drug courier. During the arrest, the suspect fled, discarding 957 methamphetamine pills and a mobile phone. Authorities filed charges at Si Samrong Police Station to issue an arrest warrant. Additional network members were also arrested with 150 pills seized during the raid.
Further checks among hospital staff identified a female nursing assistant testing positive for drugs. The hospital director ordered her immediate three-month treatment and is preparing to consider dismissal as a decisive measure under policies managing officials involved with drugs. Around the same time, two acquaintances of the nursing assistant were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.
The 29th 'Cutting Out the Cancer' operation aligns with the third measure of the drug war plan to decisively address state officials involved with drugs, reflecting the government’s stance to hold offenders accountable regardless of rank or affiliation, aiming to establish a clean organization, restore public confidence, and eliminate drug problems across all sectors.
If you have information about state officials or individuals involved with drugs, report it to the ONCB hotline 1386, the trusted resource for drug issues, available 24 hours. “All information is safe, confidential, and secure.”
