Eight Employees of Shipping Company Arrested for Stealing Mobile Phones and Gadgets from Phuket Airport Warehouse, Causing Over 3 Million Baht in Damage

Police arrested eight suspects, employees of a shipping company, for stealing mobile phones and gadgets from the Phuket Airport warehouse and reselling them, causing damages exceeding 3 million baht. The gang had committed nearly ten such thefts before.

At 3:00 p.m. on 4 Nov 2026 at the front of Sakoo Police Station, Thalang District, Phuket, Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachai Suksai, Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, together with investigators from Sakoo Police Station, announced the arrest of eight suspects involved in an international export cargo theft ring. The suspects include Somchai Chunphon, Watcharapong Nueaon, Kittikorn Chanchuklin, Hathairat Musikphan, Intira Suttit, Siris Yangpong, Nattakorn Suksuang, and Pongsiri Jiamsin (a buyer of stolen goods).

Authorities seized over 118 items, including popular brand mobile phones such as Vivo, Oppo, and Redmi, as well as tablets, smartwatches, wireless earphones, Bluetooth speakers, smart glasses, and gaming consoles, with total damages exceeding 3 million baht.

The investigation began after police received reports of goods destined for overseas shipment missing. Deep inquiries revealed the perpetrators were employees of an international shipping company contracted to handle cargo at Phuket Airport warehouse for shipment to Russia. The suspects exploited their job positions and familiarity with the area to steal these goods.

Around 12:20 a.m. on 2 Nov 2026, Intira and Nattakorn drove a black Isuzu pickup truck with Songkhla license plates to park in front of the Phuket Airport warehouse building. They then collaborated with five other shipping employees to load electronic devices from a cargo container onto the truck and delivered them to Pongsiri for resale on the black market.

Further investigation and interrogation revealed the gang had committed similar thefts eight times. Police at Sakoo Police Station gathered evidence and tracked down the entire group, including the employees involved and the buyer, recovering a large amount of stolen goods.

Initially, police detained all suspects and handed them over to investigators at Sakoo Police Station to be formally charged and prosecuted firmly under the law.
