19-Year-Old Chinese Man Claims He Was Tricked into Call Center Work, Flees to Thailand but Arrested at Natural Border Crossing

A 19-year-old Chinese man claimed he was deceived into working for a call center gang in Cambodia, feared being sent on to Myanmar, and fled across the border into Thailand before being arrested by the 1303 Ranger Company at a natural crossing point.

At 10:00 a.m. on 4 Nov 2026, reporters were informed that the Burapha Task Force, through the Khlong Hat Special Task Unit, ordered the 1303 Ranger Company to deploy personnel in coordination with the 1st Ranger Company, Khlong Hat Task Unit; the 2nd Intelligence Operations Unit of the Burapha Task Force; and the 11th Border Patrol Police Unit to patrol and monitor the Thai-Cambodian border. Their mission was to prevent and intercept illegal cross-border movements and to watch for foreigners attempting to enter through natural routes within their jurisdiction.

While patrolling near Ban Non Sao Ae, Village 2, Phan Suek Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, the patrol unit found a suspicious man walking along the border area, fitting the profile of someone illegally entering the country. The officers approached, identified themselves, and requested to check his identification and travel documents.

Upon inspection, the man was identified as a 19-year-old Chinese national without proper authorization to enter the kingdom. Officials detained him for questioning about his travel route and purpose of entering Thailand.

In initial questioning, the detainee said he had previously traveled to Cambodia after being tricked into working as a call center employee. However, the situation did not meet his expectations, and he learned he was about to be sent to Myanmar, which scared him and led him to escape from his workplace.

The detainee claimed that an unidentified Cambodian man guided him to the border area, instructing him to walk straight into Thailand. He then crossed into Thailand via a natural path, hoping to flee his predicament, but was detected and detained by the patrol unit en route.

After verifying and gathering initial information, the arresting officers transferred the Chinese man to Khlong Nam Sai Police Station for legal processing. Authorities will investigate his entry, the network involved, and verify his claims of being deceived into working for a call center gang in Cambodia and the alleged plan to be sent onward to Myanmar.
