“Boom Panadda” Skips Breakfast, Awaits Chicken Tom Kha for Lunch, Requests Prayer and Novel Books

Details of receiving “Boom Panadda and Got” into prison include a 5-day quarantine as per health measures before placement in the detention area during trial. This morning, Boom did not have breakfast, which was clear radish soup with pork ribs; she plans to wait and eat lunch instead. She requested prayer books and novels.

On 8 Nov 2026 GMT+7, the spokesperson for the Department of Corrections reported from the commanders of Bangkok Remand Prison and Central Women's Correctional Institution that on 7 Nov, Bangkok Remand Prison received Mr. Atip Ananthawan, accused in a public fraud case, from the Criminal Court as a detainee during investigation. Upon arrival, the nurse conducted an initial health check and found Mr. Atip conscious, responsive, and able to care for himself without breathlessness. He disclosed having chronic gout and kidney disease, treated continuously at Sukhumvit Hospital for three years. He reported no allergies to drugs or food. Bruises on his body were explained as from a previous surgery to repair a tendon in his right upper arm. Mr. Atip denied smoking, admitted occasional alcohol use, and denied drug use. He was placed under a 5-day quarantine for new inmates in Zone 2, the intake area, according to procedures.

Meanwhile, Ms. Panadda Wongpudi, known as Boom, was admitted to Central Women's Correctional Institution at 17:00. The Criminal Court ordered a 12-day detention (first time). The institution followed intake procedures including personal history, physical examination, and psychological assessment. Nurses and social workers found Ms. Panadda physically healthy with no chronic illnesses. Mentally, she was generally normal but concerned about her children and mother outside. She was then placed in the pre-trial detention zone for quarantine as a disease prevention measure. Dinner provided was clear vermicelli soup with boiled egg, which she ate normally and had no special requests. Both Mr. Atip and Ms. Panadda adapted well, slept normally, and showed no signs of severe stress or anxiety.

Sunday visits to the prison are suspended, especially during quarantine.

Reports indicate that this morning Boom skipped breakfast, as she usually does (the menu was clear radish soup with pork ribs), opting to wait for lunch (chicken tom kha soup and watermelon). She communicates well with cellmates, does not isolate herself or show stress, but requested prayer books and novels.

Regarding family visits, after the quarantine period, visits are allowed daily except weekends and public holidays. Visitors must be on a pre-registered list with the institution, limited to no more than 10 people. After quarantine, Ms. Panadda will be supervised and cared for in the pre-trial detention zone, in accordance with international standards for detainees during trial (the Mandela Rules and Bangkok Rules).
