The Department of Corrections clarifies the reception of "Bum-Got" into the Women's Central Prison and Bangkok Remand Prison, affirming adherence to reception standards and equal health care.
On 8 Nov 2026, the Department of Corrections issued a statement regarding the admission of Ms. Panadda Wongpudi (Bum) and Mr. Athip Anantawan, suspects in a joint fraud case, into the Women's Central Prison and Bangkok Remand Prison. The Criminal Court authorized their detention during the investigation on 7 Nov.
The Department states it has processed the custody of both individuals according to prison regulations and operational standards (SOPs), treating them equally as with other detainees.
A detailed initial medical examination by healthcare personnel found Ms. Panadda to be physically healthy with no chronic illnesses and mentally stable, though concerned about her family. She ate dinner normally and made no special requests. Mr. Athip was physically normal with no bruises; he disclosed chronic gout and kidney disease treated externally. The prison documented his medical history to ensure continuous medication and proper health care.
Currently, both detainees have been placed in the reception wards for strict quarantine under infectious disease prevention measures. Ms. Panadda is in the pretrial area of the Women's Central Prison, while Mr. Athip is in Zone 2 of the Bangkok Remand Prison. The Department reaffirms that the custody and care of all detainees comply with legal principles, transparency, and systematic observance of fundamental rights standards.
